Overview:

Tmobile has several options to users that have service plans with them. I am one of the people that like the iPhone but do not want to be stuck with a contract or in a plan. I decided I would contact TMobile and ask what I can do with the "pay as you go" option and they said I couldnt do anything. I then decided to switch to the Sidekick plan and noticed something odd, I could get mail on the mail app but could not get web sites and such. After searching around I found a site called iphonesidekick.co.cc and they offered a proxy bypass for a monthly fee. I thought that was great but I am more of the do it yourself person. Then I found a guide from a website called freeiphonesidekick.co.cc, this guide was great because it gave all the info to make the internet work and was free as long as you used your home PC. The disadvantage to this is going to be that it relies on your home PC being on all the time and on the net.

I would like to point out that I give mad props to freeiphonesidekick team that originally gave this info and instructions for doing this and that I will continue to help those that want to do it themselves as well. The work of freeiphonesidekick and others has now been put in with p1nksnow (info available here: PRESS RELEASE: Introducing P1nkSn0w | LEI Mobile)

This guide I am putting back up is an alternative. I believe everyone should have the choice to decide what they want to use. I will continue to try other things to make it better and I may not provide a lot of support for some stuff like p1nksnow will for there service but it is all for fun as well. Anyway you make the choice and decide.

 Warning:

Proxy servers can be abused and will allow others to look like they are on your home network. I recommend not giving your proxy info to anyone unless you can absolutly trust them. I also recommend changing the port you use to make it something unique.

Step 1: T-Mobile + Jailbreak

You must jailbreak your iphone and have T-Mobile Sidekick plan monthly or prepaid $1 a day and no other like tzones and such. (This does not give you magic Internet access).

Step 2: Installing SQUID proxy

Download this file (Big Thank you to Antman for this):

Preprepared Squid Proxy server

Extract the contents of this file to "c:\squid", Optional - If you want to change the port you use for Squid you will want to navigate to the c:\squid\etc" directory and open in notepad "squid.conf", then click "Edit" then click "Find" and type "http_port" and change the 3128 to whatever port you want to use! Then go to the squid directory and double click "install.bat". Now restart your PC and squid will be running. To verify if it is running click start then right click on My Computer, click Manage, click plus sign next to Services and applications, click services, then scroll down on the right to "Squid" and double click it. If it says Started then it is running.

You will need to log into your router and forward whatever port you used for Squid (default is 3128 if you didnt change it) to your PCs IP address.

Step 3: Connecting the iPhone to your proxy

Now you will need to download the Iphone Configuration Utility from Apple. The link is below:

iPhone Configuration Utility

Once you have it installed open the Iphone Configuration Utility and click "File" then "New Configuration Profile" and then enter a Name of this Config and also an Identifier.

Click "Advanced" and enter the following information:

APN: hiptop.t-mobile.com

Access point user name: guest

Access point password: guest

Proxy and server port: (This is your external IP address and port), IP Address of your connection can be found by going to whatsmyip.org

Step 4: Send Profile to your iPhone

OK, Now we are ready to finish this up. You will need to click "Export" and then click "Export" again and save the profile to a location on your PC. After you save it send the profile to your email on the iPhone. Now open "Mail" app on the iPhone and tap the profile that is in your email. It will show the profile with a button that says "Install". Tap "Install" and when it is done you will have your proxy setup on your iPhone.
If everything went well you should be able to open "Safari" and go to "http://www.whatsmyip.org" and it will show the same IP as your home computer.

 Done!

Your Speed test results may vary depending on signal and speed of your PC but as you can see from my speedtest results they arent that bad for Edge!

If you want to try a new Config file I have been playing with it is listed below but not necessary to get this up and running because the original config has been tested as working and stable.

***OPTIONAL** New Test squid.conf

The config file above is just a config file I have been playing with. I changed a little but not a lot. If you want to try it out you can. To try it out you will need to navigate to the "c:\squid\etc" directory and rename the original "squid.conf" to "squid.bak" and place this one in the etc directory. now restart the PC and see how it runs. (I did not create these config files originally they were created by the creator of "iphonesidekick.co.cc")

I am willing to try this out for a while. If you are still unable to get this setup I can remote into your machine using Teamviewer and set it all up with you while you watch. What you will need to do is send a donation and leave me the details like your phone number or how you would like to be contacted and I will get with you to get it all set up. Donation link is at the bottom of the page.
You can get TeamViewer from here

I also wanted to point out that if you feel that you dont want to do this guide p1nksn0w is a great alternative and it allows you to have a connection without the dependancy of your home computer being connected at all times.

If you go with p1nksn0w letem know we sent ya from sidekickdataproxy.freetzi.com
Click here to go the the article about p1nksn0w and to get info on how to sign up.

Special thanks to p1nksn0w team, freeiphonesidekick.co.cc team and the http://modmyi.com/forums/t-mobile/ page for all the help I have found with this.  If you have any questions or anything to share you can email me at sidekickdataproxy@gmail.com. Hope this helps everyone out there!
